Main Task: filming continued…

Today we have just finished filming the stage shots of all our dancers on stage with their outfits all prepared and ready in their glamours outfits. We played around with the lighting and have a lot of interesting shots from different angels to choose for our editing. I’d like to thank Dan Jellico for the help with lighting and the patience he had waiting for 5 girls do get it right! Here are some pictures of today!

Main Task: Filming continued (part 2)

Just now me and Trishila decided to some filming with our ballet dancer, focusing on her dance and how we can get the shot we want in which part of the dance to make the dance work. We also decided to do a bit of filming because we noticed the silhouettes of our shadows to make a good shot, so we got our camera and got our dancer to film off shot and  film her shadow against the wall to get that effect shot. We will be adding this into our film and seeing how well it works.

We will continue to film and edit (we are editing right now) and filming Friday after school and during school to get our ballet dancer all done.

Next week we will have all our work done and be adding to into our editing which we have started editing, replacing the fillers we put on to our actual film. Below is a couple of pictures from today.

Main Task: Deadlines

Schedule for our course work and deadlines.

November 19th – 27th:

  • Finish planning: Trish will have finished planning writing the story board, I will have finished writing the screenplay as well as talking to our target audience about our idea and getting feedback.
  • Test shots: by the end of November we will have finished with our practice shots and finished editing them to see what types of shots we need to improve for the main filming and what shots we need to replace or think are fine.
  • Music: Trishila and I will be looking through music genres and all sorts of music to find the best piece to complement the three types of dances being performed.

December 11th:

  • Finish filming: by mid December we will have finish filming our main task of our dancers and the voice over.

January 25th:

  • Finish editing first cut: early next year we will have finished editing our opening sequence. Trishila will be editing as well as I at school during frees and within lesson.

January 25th – Febaury 3rd:

  • Audience feedback, edit changes and evaluation: We will be arranging to have people watch our opening sequence and  giving positive and negative reviews on it. After hearing the feedback we will be making changes to the sequence to make it better for our audiences to watch. As well as this we will be starting our evaluation on our main task, saying what was good and bad about what we did and how we could have improved parts of our work.

February 4th:

  • First Draft of evaluation and final edit due: by the first of February my partner and I will have finished our first draft of evaluation and the final main task piece to publish on the internet.

February 4th – 10th:

  • Evaluation and final changes to research and planning: by these dates we hope to have finished perfected our evaluation of our main task and gone back on our earlier research to improve what we have said with more detail and added more research on movies that at similar to our opening sequence.

February 11th:

  • Final evaluation and completed project due: by mid February we will have everything from our research to final evaluation finished and all nice and tidied for the examiners to have read over and grade.

Main Task: shot ideas

You and I’ While Trishila and I were going through and creating a story board, we thought that it would be interesting to play with editing our shots to a sort of ‘Morphing’ idea. This would involve filming our dancers doing an action (all the same actions, in the same place at the same level). I thought it would be a good idea to film all the dancers spinning, editing the three shots together morph all the dancers into the same scene! As we aren’t sure exactly how to edit it we will be doing a practice shot and then seeing how well the shots turn out together.

If our practice shot and editing are good enough we will be adding the morphing shot into our opening sequence.

While Trishila and I were talking about this she thought of a One Direction ‘You and I’ (unfortunately you are unable to copy the one direction hyper link to Youtube because of copy right laws for their songs). The music video uses morphing very well to change from singers, while wearing the same outfits to help make it more realistic. We hopefully will be able to create a morphing like the video but with three morphing torsos.

Preliminary Task – Final result

We have finally finished our editing which means we have finished our preliminary task, with all of the work we as a team put in I feel like we have done a great job creating a really well done piece of work using many different shots that complement the genre and music which we used. This is our preliminary task final piece:

Preliminary Task – Planning (Time for filming)

My group and I have decided on the days we want to film for the preliminary task.

Thursday during 11am to 12:30am (we will be filming it during our break as we need an outsider from our group to help us with the acting).

As we have a lesson Thursday 4th lesson we will be able to use the school grounds to do our match on action shots, low angel action shot and last establishing shot.

We also decided if we need more time to film we will come after school and right at the beginning of the lesson on Friday because we need time to edit the film and put it on our blogs.

*I’m hoping to have all our film practice uploaded to my blog by Friday*

Preliminary: Planning Test Shots

Me and my group did two different test shot scenes, practising with our camera skills and showing the what shots we can do easily.

I filmed the match on action shot.

Abbie filmed both the shot reverse shot and the establishing shot.

Trish and I acted and made up a quick script.

We finished editing the shots and this is what we did while editing:

  • Basic Title added
  • Cut beginning and end of match on action shot
  • Crop the curtain in establishing shot
  • Cut to character A over shoulder shot
  • Cut to character B over the shoulder shot (Creating shot reverse shot)
  • Cut back to character A over the shoulder shot
  • Cut back to character B over the shoulder shot
  • Back to character A asking question ‘Are you dying?’
  • Final shot of establishing shot.

End of practice shots.
